Sation - Purple Hooter Swatches

I decided on Saturday that when ever the background colour of every nail is the same polish, I will do a swatch post on it. Will this be helpful? I don't know, but I'd like to try it out.
This leads us to starting with Sation - Purple Hooter.
The pictures are all of two coats of Purple Hooter, indoors. First two pictures are with flash, third picture is without. Unfortunately I usually do my nails at night so getting sunlight pictures is hard.

I know it's basically a nothing brand from some random store, but what ev'.
I hadn't used it before my birthday nails but was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice almost silvery purple with gold micro glitter.
It changes depending on what lighting you look at it under.
In a lot of lights it's this nice purpley colour with a hint of gold shimmer.
But in some lights it's almost a grey purple with a strong gold shimmer.

I can't say I'll use it a ton, but I do like it. It looks nice with my skin tone, and is a really nice purpley base for nail art. :)

1/30/12 - IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

IT'S MY 18TH BIRTHDAY!!!!! YAY!
I know birthdays are really just a day and nothing to get excited about, but I think I just get so starved for anything to get excited about that I do get rather excited for my birthdays. Plus, this one's pretty big, as it now means I'm an adult and can vote and do cool stuff and stuff. :D
Any way, on to the nails! I never really came up with any more ideas, so I went ahead and did the birthday-themed skittle thing. I think it came out really well, and I did a really good job at getting it to look pretty much identical on each hand. Maybe I'm becoming more ambidextrous!
The background is Sation - Purple Hooter. I wanted purple because purple is my favourite colour, and I haven't used this polish yet. :D The rest of the designs are Migi Nail Art Pens, and the sparkles are Nail Treats - Jubilee. I really like Jubilee. It's not particularly creative/unheard of, but it's the kind of smaller multi-glitter I own and it was cheap but seems good quality, and always adds a nice layer of coloured sparkles. :D
Here are the close ups: Which one is your favourite? Honestly, I really like them all. The balloon and the cupcake may win, though. :)

Ideas...?

Hello, followers and people randomly looking at my blog! Hello, by the way, to my new followers, upping my total to 9 - that's pretty cool! :D
Anyway, I write this post because my 18th birthday is in 5 days, on January 30th. Sometime that weekend I want to do my nails so that I rock super awesome nails on my special day.
However, I don't really have any ideas. My boyfriend suggested various party/birthday themed items, one on each nail. I kinda want something shiny, or bright, or colourful. Or all of the above. Not really sure.
All I know is, I want my nails to look really cool.

So if you have any ideas, I'll be glad to hear them! :D

P.S.: If you have ideas for other nail designs beside from my birthday, I am perfectly willing/very happy to hear those too. :)

01/20/12 - Sock Pattern Mani

I know this may seem an odd-looking mani, and I admit that it is. And you know why?

Because it's inspired by a pair of socks! xD
Many people know that I collect knee-highs with crazy patterns, colours, toes, whatever. I have three or four pairs like this, where there are three different sections that don't seem to go together. I kept thinking of turning this pair into a nail design, so I did. :D

It's a little silly looking, I know, but I think it's fun. (So sorry about the blue ink in that second to last picture, it's from work and I can't get it to wash off yet. ^^; )
Anyway, the white is Claire's - Snowball. The grey is Sally Hansen - Wet Cement. And the stars and stripes are Migi Nail Art Pens red, yellow, green, purple, and orange. The black tips are Wet 'n' Wild - Ebony Hates Chris.

I hope you like these nails!

So, two notes of business before the end of this post:
1) I'm starting to run low on ideas again. I was doing well for a while there, and then this last week I was busy and just stopped having ideas. o.o So I may keep turning to my sock drawer, but I'd also love suggestions from my lovely seven followers. :D
2) I think I should start doing names in the title. I may even go back and change some of my old posts to have customized names, instead of just "new mani." At the time that seemed like a fine thing to do. But I realize now that having every single post say "new mani" is incredibly unhelpful. So hopefully that'll be a good change. :)

1/6/12 - Rainbow Gradient Dots

So this is a fun little idea that popped into my mind. I'm not really sure why/how - usually I have a clear source of inspiration. But I just ended up thinking it would probably be fun to do a greyscale gradient with rainbow dots on top. So here it is. xD
The black is Wet 'n' Wild - Ebony Hates Chris. Grey is Sally Hansen - Wet Cement. White is Claire's - Snowball. The rainbow dots are Migi Nail Art Pen red, orange, yellow, green, and blue, with the Sally Hansen nail art pen in Purple.
I think it's really fun. I'm enjoying it. :)

1/03/12 - Stash Update

So, I meant to post this in that week between Christmas and New Years. However, that just.. didn't happen.
So first, I figured out a new way to store my polish, because I was quickly outgrowing my old place. I bought this little plastic drawer from Target for a specific purpose... and it ended up not fitting. So it was just sitting there - until now!

And in my stocking, I got some new polishes. :)

A cute little scented nail polish pack and two neon nail art pens. :)

I'm not quite sure what this means - washes off with water? o.o

But, the consistency looked really nice, if a little thick. And as a bonus - I'm not sure whether it's because it's "water-based" or what, but it actually smelled exactly like the Jolly Rancher flavour it's supposed to smell like, right out of the bottle. That was pretty nifty, especially for my first scented polishes. :)

12/31/11 - Happy New Year!

Happy 2012, everyone! In the later aftertnoon of the last day of 2011, I painted my nails in this little design. :) This was primarily my boyfriend's idea, though I did want to incorporate fireworks somehow. On my left hand, it says 2011. On my right hand, it says 2012. The fireworks represent the transition. :) I think it came out really well, and many people at the various parties I went to liked it.

The background polish is one coat of Wet 'n' Wild - Ebony Hates Chris (this is like the best black polish, by the way). Then topped with Claire's - Glow in the Dark. The numbers are my unidentified cat-shaped polish, which is a great gold glitter, then outlined with Migi Nail Art Pen - silver. The fireworks are first Migi white, just so they'd be bright enough. The yellow is Love & Beauty - Neon Yellow. The blue is Migi blue. And the pink is my new nail art pen (which I just realized I was going to post about after Christmas) and never did), Cina - Shocking Pink.
I think overall it turned out well, just as 2011 did. I hope 2012 is even better! The year I turn 18, the year I start college, the year I'm hoping to really find myself. :) Cheers!
